Luke Walton

Luke Walton is the best type of lame duck. In fact, he's a cool duck. The Warriors assistant coach has already accepted the Lakers' head coaching job for next season. Before he takes his talents to L.A., Walton, who went 39-4 as Golden State's interim coach for the first half of the season, is finishing out his duties for Steve Kerr.

But of course, Walton had his eye on the NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday night. The Lakers received the No. 2 overall pick.

And the Warriors trolled Walton.

It's gullible of Walton to think the Warriors PR staff would have inside information on the Draft Lottery. But maybe Walton is still so wrapped up in coaching the Warriors, who play in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals Wednesday night, he didn't pay attention to start time for the lottery.

Either way, Walton, 36, who played for the Lakers from 2003 to 2012, should laugh and relax. He gets to coach Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson for the rest of this postseason, and in one month, the Lakers' young core of Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle and D'Angelo Russell will welcome either Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram to their team.
