Thomas Raymond Flores was born March 21, 1937.

Flores changed the game of football, becoming the first Hispanic starting quarterback in pro football and the first minority head coach to win a Super Bowl.

He also joins Mike Ditka as the only people to win the Super Bowl as a player, assistant coach and a head coach. Flores won Super Bowl IV with the Kansas City Chiefs in 1969 as a player. With the Raiders, he was an assistant for Super Bowl XI, and won Super Bowls XV and XVIII as head coach.

Flores coached the Raiders after John Madden's retirement in 1979.
