LeBron James and Russell Westbrook had more in common Thursday night than a basketball court.

Not only were the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder squaring off in a rematch of the 2012 NBA Finals, James and Westbrook each celebrated the birthdays of their mothers with a special gift.

Westbrook posted a few photos on Instagram throughout the day:

"WANNA GIVE A HUGE BIRTHDAY SHOUT OUT TO MY LOVELY MOTHER, I DONT KNOW WHERE I WOULD B IN MY LIFE WITHOUT U IN IT AND HELPING ME THRU THIS JOURNEY .YOU TAUGHT ME AND MY BROTHER HOW TO CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER AND BE STRONG LIKE YOU! AND YOU ARE THE MOST CARING AND UNSELFISH WOMAN I KNOW AND I LOVE U FOR THAT .. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!! #whynotfamily #bestmom #turnupmom"

For the game Thursday, Westbrook had some special messages inscribed on his shoes:

As thoughtful as Westbrook was, it appears he may have gotten one-upped by James. For his mom's birthday, which fell on Feb. 5, the reigning MVP surprised his mom with a Porsche. Gloria James got her gift on Thursday.

"Momma received her surprise b-day gift today. Enjoy and love you momma! Trying to figure out how to give u the world but in the mean time enjoy your new toy! #ProudSon #SheGoneStuntOnMeNow #StriveForGreatness"

This isn't the first time a car has been exchanged between James and his mother for one of their birthdays. In 2002 Gloria bought LeBron a Hummer for his 18th birthday. That purchase, you may remember, was surrounded by considerably more controversy than this one.
