Canadian Soccer Media Rights
Landmark rights deal
Soccer in Canada is surging. The Canadian Premier League launched in 2019, and Canada Soccer will co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Canadian Soccer Business hired ThePostGame to orchestrate a critical component of this movement – the media rights partnership. This was a rare opportunity because it involved launching a major league in the world’s biggest sport during the purely digital era. TPG developed a robust RFP for the global market, with serious interest garnered from a wide array of traditional and emerging media properties. After a thorough bidding and vetting process, the contract went to MEDIAPRO, a global soccer powerhouse whose partners include the 2022 FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, La Liga and Ligue1. The scale of the landmark 10-year partnership, from rights fee to the pristine production quality (live and shoulder) to total investment by MEDIAPRO in Canada, has made this a monumental achievement for all parties.
