The last time the New England Patriots lost in the playoffs, the wife of a star player tried to shift the attention from her husband by criticizing another player.

Roughly one year later, and it's deja vu all over again.

Last year at the Super Bowl it was Tom Brady's wife, Gisele Bundchen, who cut into New England's receivers. This time around it's Anna Burns, the wife of receiver Wes Welker, who is doing the trash talking.

After the Patriots' loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Sunday's AFC championship game, Burns took to Facebook to slam Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis:

Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis‘ Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!

Not only were Burns' words misguided, they were also partially untrue. Lewis does have six children by four women, but none of them was his wife.

Also, regarding an acquittal, Lewis avoided facing murder charges by pleading guilty to a misdemeanor and testifying against two co-defendants. Those co-defendants were found not guilty. Lewis reached settlements to avoid a civil trial.
