The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon began in 2001. It was created as part of the recovery process after 168 people were killed in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995.

This year's run had extra significance. It came just 13 days after the terrorist attacks at the Boston Marathon. HBO's "Real Sports" profiles several of the inspirational competitors who have survived the tragedies and are taking strides toward healing.
