Masai Ujiri in Nigeria

Shortly after the Toronto Raptors won the NBA championship in June, team president Masai Ujiri returned to his remote hometown in Nigeria. Bringing the championship trophy with him, Ujiri caught up with old friends, including his childhood coach.

A year earlier, Ujiri had made a bold move in trading with the Spurs for Kawhi Leonard, who had been limited to nine games in the 2017-18 season because of injury. Leonard was the difference in turning the Raptors from perennial playoff underachievers to NBA champs.

HBO's Real Sports joined Ujiri on his trip to Nigeria. Here's a snippet from the report, which premieres at 10 p.m. ET/PT Tuesday October 22.
