Big3 co-founder Ice Cube was confident about launching the 3-on-3 league of former NBA players last year, but at the same time, he wasn't exactly comfortable.

"Until I saw enough guys to fill rosters, I wasn't happy," Ice Cube says of the inaugural season. "But this year, I'm much happier, much more calm. I understand what's going on. A lot of guys came in way better shape than last year. Guys are taking it serious. So I don't have to worry about that anymore, if there's going to be enough guys to play."

The second season of the Big3 begins June 22 in Houston. Eight teams compete every Friday in a different city during an eight-week regular season. The playoffs are August 17 in Dallas. The championship is August 24 in Brooklyn. Check out the video above for more from Ice Cube as he discusses, among other things, how the league embraces old-school NBA features such as hand-checking and trash-talking.
