Pat Tillman Statue

Arizona State is bringing its own fashion statement into next week's matchup against Oregon. The Sun Devils will wear special cleats designed by Adidas to honor Pat Tillman, the former ASU standout turned Army Ranger.

Dubbed the "Dark Ops Collection," the team will wear two different types of cleats that memorialize the former football star, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2004.

The cleats have a camouflage exterior and feature the phrase "PT-42" on the shoe's tongue. The Adidas logo will appear in gold as a way of "representing the gold outline of the U.S. Army Rangers patch and U.S. flag patch," according to the company.

This isn't the first time the Sun Devils have honored Tillman, who is recognized as a war hero and a standard of service following the attacks on 9/11.

Tillman was the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year before he was drafted into the NFL. He left his career with the Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the military.
