Stephen Curry, Ayesha Curry

Stephen Curry went against his current home city Sunday and the plan backfired.

The Warriors star, a Charlotte native and noted Panthers fan, is arguably the most popular man in Oakland. But Sunday, when the Panthers visited the Raiders for the first time since 2008 (when Curry was a junior at Davidson), Curry was decked out in gear from his childhood city.

Curry fans may remember he was on hand the last time the Panthers visited the Bay Area. The two-time reigning NBA MVP pounded the Panthers' drum before the team's 24-10 Super Bowl loss to the Broncos in Santa Clara (Kevin Durant was also there, but that's a story for another day).

This year, Curry again witnessed a tough Panthers loss. Oakland kicked a game-winning field goal in the final two minutes to knock off Carolina, 35-32.

And Curry paid the price. Apparently, he lost a bet and had to put on a Raiders jersey.

Considering Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum is part of the same stadium complex as Oracle Arena, it is easy for Curry to adopt the Raiders as his second team. After all, his franchise finished second in last year's championship and now he is looking for an easier way to win this year.

Sorry, I had to.

At least the Panthers didn't blow a 3-1 lead.
