Last Sunday, four military members from Fort Carson (near Colorado Springs) got in a car with USAA and left base. In a rare move, the servicemen let up their guard.
Maybe they had a hunch they were in for a unique afternoon. The soldiers were driven to a house, where they met nine-time Pro Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware. With the Broncos on a bye, the group watched football and ate turkey with Ware and cornerback Taurean Nixon (who was waived by the Broncos this past Monday).
Not a bad Sunday.
The NFL is currently in its Salute to Service campaign and USAA is the "official military appreciation sponsor of the NFL."
Teamed w/ @USAA to surprise troops for Thanksgiving. Thankful for their service! https://t.co/9v3s3qVHhp #SaluteToService #FootballisFamily
