With college sports teams debuting new uniforms all the time, it's easy to lose track of all the different outfits.
Here's one you won't forget.
Next week the N.C. State Wolfpack will play the Connecticut Huskies at the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden. In that game the Wolfpack will wear specialized jerseys honoring their former coach, Jim Valvano.
The uniforms have a faded net on them, symbolizing the net which is cut down after the NCAA championship game. Valvano and the Wolfpack cut down the nets in 1983.
In 1947, N.C. State coach Everett Case started the college basketball tradition of cutting down the nets, when he wanted a souvenir from his squad's Southern Conference championship. Case brought the tradition to N.C. State from Indiana high school basketball, where it may have originated.
The back of N.C. State's jersey features Valvano's signature quote: "Don't ever give up."
Valvano repeated that line several times during his famous speech at the 1993 ESPY awards. He died less than two months later.
