Joey Chestnut won the 2013 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest by breaking his own world record with 69. It was also the seventh consecutive Nathan's title for Chestnut. He had been sharing the mark of six with his rival Takeru Kobayashi. Matt Stonie finished second with 51.

The women's division provided a tighter competition. Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas won with 36 ¾ dogs. Juliet Lee, the second-place finisher, ate 36.
