Ryan Kerrigan's great season may be even better than any of us knew.

Washington's fourth-year linebacker has recorded 9.5 sacks through 12 games, which is already a career high. After the team picked up the contract option for a fifth season on his rookie contract earlier this year, Kerrigan has emerged as one of the NFL's most productive outside linebackers.

And things are going just as well off the field for the 26-year-old Kerrigan.

Kerrigan was spotted Monday at a charity event in Washington, D.C., with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki, who went through a heartbreaking split with Rory McIlroy earlier this year.

Neither Kerrigan nor Wozniacki on Monday wanted to speak about their relationship status. But Kerrigan did answer this question the next day from ESPN 980's Scott Jackson.

"I mean, I don't really want to get into it," Kerrigan said. “We're friends, and she was in town, and she wanted to come to the event. We had a nice time at the event."

Interestingly, Wozniacki recently posted a photo of her watching the Redskins-49ers game. Coincidence? Perhaps.

It's been an eventful fall for Wozniacki. It must have been at least a little tough to watch McIlroy catch fire shortly after their breakup, as he went on to win the British Open, the PGA Championship and the PGA Player of the Year award. Wozniacki hasn't been doing too poorly herself -- she advanced to the finals of the U.S. Open and recently completed the New York City Marathon.

One problem Wozniacki won't have with Kerrigan, if they are indeed dating, is height. She recently lamented that she couldn't wear heels while dating the 5-foot-9 McIlroy. She is 5-10. Kerrigan is 6-4, so Wozniacki doesn't need to worry about appearing taller than him.
