If ever one play could sum up the rich history of Chicago baseball, no doubt this would be the one.

With the Cubs batting in the top of the 8th inning, catcher A.J. Pierzynski failed simple math as he lost track of how many outs there were. After relief pitcher Matt Thornton struck out Cubs OF David DeJesus, Pierzynski confidently headed to the home dugout. That wouldn't have been an issue had that been the third out, but it was the second.

To make things even more embarrassing, most of the White Sox players sprinted to the dugout in lockstep with their longtime backstop. Not to be outdone, Dave McKay, the Cubs first base coach, also took a jog off the field with the ChiSox.

It's not all bad news for Pierzynski. He is on pace for 29 homers and 98 RBI this season.
