Adidas Honors Lionel Messi With 100 Limited Edition Boots -- Only In His Size

On Monday morning, 100 soccer fans woke up feeling like normal people. By late afternoon, they felt like Lionel Messi.

In conjunction with the date being Oct. 10, Adidas released a limited edition Messi 16+ PureAgility 10/10 Firm Ground Cleats. Only 100 pairs were produced, all in Messi's U.S. size 8.5.

The boots, made with Adidas' AgilityKnit material, dropped at 4 p.m. ET In New York, 50 pairs were sold at a pop-up store in Lower Manhattan. The other half was sold online. All pairs went for $400.

Adidas, which calls Messi "the game's greatest number 10 of all time," explains the boot like this:

"The new Messi 10/10 boots include an AgilityKnit material that molds around the foot within milliseconds and eliminates any unnecessary wear in time.  A PureAgility sock system delivers explosive speed and agility by hiding the laces inside the boot. The Agility SprintFrame Outsole was developed with and for Messi and generates unstoppable traction and stability. These technical features have been incorporated to represent Messi's unique playing style."
