Turning 100 years old is a major accomplishment in its own right. But when you're a World War II veteran celebrating the century mark at a Boston Red Sox game, you simply can't go unrecognized.
So while Sofka was enjoying the game from a prime seat near the field, the team itself was organizing a special experience for the war hero. For starters, Sofka received a nice souvenir: A foul ball tossed to him by a Fenway Park ballgirl.
Sofka and his friends look thrilled by the gift, if a little stunned:
The team's videoboard also paid tribute to Sofka, giving fans a moment to stand up and applaud his service -- and his ripe old age, because come on, 100 is impressive.
