KD8

Kevin Durant's eighth signature shoe from Nike is a piece of footwear that challenges the way we define shoes.

According to a release from Nike, the KD8 blends the functionality of low-top shoes with high-top designs by outfitting the shoe with a calf-length compression sock to provide better protection, comfort and stability in the ankle joint.

Other features include visible Nike Zoom Air cushioning, Flywire technology and Kevlar aramid fiber. But the compression sock has the potential to change both the design and style of future basketball shoes.

"Transitioning from a low to high is a decision we made with confidence based on our ongoing feedback from Durant to always push the limit on innovative design," says the shoe's designer, Leo Chang.

"The KD8 Elite is conceptually designed to blur the lines between the shoe, sock and tight; seamlessly transitioning between each so you can't differentiate where one begins and the other ends."
