Landon Benton never met his older brother. Kevin Charles took his own life at age 20 in March 2015. Jessica Benton, their mother, was pregnant with Landon.
At 10 months, Landon is too young to realize it, but he unconsciously carries the spirit of his brother, as his mom has turned him into a celebrity against anti-bullying with his Stuff Curry persona.
As the story goes, a photo of baby Landon started making rounds on the internet. Someone proposed the nickname, "Stuff Curry" for Landon.
"I didn't know what it meant at the time and kind of got upset, because a lot of the other comments weren't very nice," Jessica told ESPN's Darren Rovell in a recent story. "So I ended up googling 'Stuff Curry' and I got Steph Curry.
"I'm not going to let them fat shame my baby and put it all over online and I just give up there. I wanted to really turn it into something good and take control of it and say, 'OK, we're gonna own this name. Yeah, we're Stuff Curry. We look like the famous basketball player.'"
There is no denying Landon is pudgier than some of his infant peers. But Jessica was in no mood to let internet trolls run all over him. Not after what she experienced with her older son.
"When he was in 11th grade, he told me about how the kids at school would say mean things to him and call him names and make fun of him," Jessica says of Kevin. "And I didn't realize how much that had taken a toll with his own self-esteem at the time. I can't say it's directly due to bullying or anything, but I have one kid who's not here with me who told me that people made fun of him. I'm not going to have another kid think that the whole world was laughing at him."
So Jessica put Landon on the offensive. She started taking pictures of him in Stephen Curry attire and watermarked the photos. The account, @babylandonlee, gained a cult following. It is now up to 38,000+ followers.
He even got a Stuff jersey:

Landon has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and ESPN.
Jessica says basketball is not the sport of choice in the Benton household, but this spring, the family is rooting for Stephen Curry and the Warriors. Maybe Steph and Stuff can share their fame with each other, meeting up in the offseason.
