Lamar Odom, Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian

Lamar Odom came to New York City this week and made his first public appearance since a near-death experience late last year.

No, he wasn't there to comfort ex-teammate and fired Knicks coach Derek Fisher or to hang out with former coach Phil Jackson or for a second tryout with the Knicks.

He came for Kanye West.

West debuted his new album, The Life of Pablo and his new fashion line, Yeezy Season 3, at an afternoon concert in Madison Square Garden Thursday. Odom, who was in a critical condition after being found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel in October, flew from Los Angeles to New York for the concert.

West personally walked Odom to his seat with the Kardashian/Jenner clan in Odom's first public appearance since his near-death experience.

Odom received an ovation from the NYC crowd. He and Khloe Kardashian married in 2009, but filed for divorce in 2013. The divorce was never approved by a judge, and it was called off as Odom fought for his life this past fall. Kardashian says there are no plans for the two to become a couple again, but stalling the divorce allowed her to maintain influence on medical decisions.

According to TMZ Sports, West, who is married to Kim Kardashian, Khloe's sister, stood by Odom's side in the hospital, making constant appearances to comfort Odom and play rough cuts of his music.
