At 2:16 p.m. ET Wednesday -- Fernandez wore No. 16 for the Marlins -- a public memorial service began at Marlins Park for the late pitcher. Fernandez, a two-time All-Star in four MLB seasons, died in a boating accident early Sunday morning at 24.
The entire Marlins roster surrounded Fernandez' hearse, all wearing RIP shirts with the "I" being an image of Fernandez on the mound. His family was also present.

The memorial service made its way to Little Havana to Coconut Grove to Westchester. Fernandez fans paid their respects along the way.

A public viewing at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Westchester began at 5 p.m. Wednesday. A private funeral is scheduled for Thursday.
The Marlins host the Mets at 7:10 p.m. The team ends the season with three games at Washington, starting Friday.
