By the 250th pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, even the most diehard fans had moved on with their weekends. Chicago's Draft Town was closing up shop, and first-round picks were being paraded through their new hometowns.
John Elway and the Broncos' front office was still locked in. With the first compensatory selection of Round 7, Denver took a quarterback out of Northwestern named Trevor Siemian.
7th rd pick Trevor Siemian had a productive career as a quarterback at Northwestern. He has raw talent and we think he will develop nicely.

A fan, @nfKrauss, quickly questioned the draft pick on Twitter. Elway, the Broncos' general manager and executive vice president of football operations since 2011, ignored the tweet until Sunday. After Siemian's 312-yard, four-touchdown performance at Cincinnati, Elway @-ed the fan.
Hang on. Did John Elway really just @ this dude who questioned him a year and a half ago? Hahahaha pic.twitter.com/Q6ab2XO4C2

The tweet has since been deleted, but the fan got the message.
@johnelway @Broncos Thanks for the call out I lived up/admitted my mistake can you fly me out to game apologize in person? #ask4forgiveness

As a rookie, Siemian sat behind Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler on the depth chart, taking one snap all season, a kneel. He did get a Super Bowl ring, though.
With Manning retiring and Osweiler signing with the Texans, Siemian entered a training-camp quarterback battle with Mark Sanchez and 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch. Siemian won the job, and in three games, he is 3-0 with 756 yards and five touchdowns.
So don't mess with John Elway. The two-time Super Bowl champion (with a third ring as executive) knows what he is doing. The Broncos have not lost since Dec. 20, 2015.
