J.J. Watt

J.J. Watt comes from a line of tough men. But his father wasn't known for his toughness on the gridiron -- instead, he was known for something much braver.

Growing up, Watt looked up to his dad, who was a local firefighter in their hometown. But with a college football career quickly leading him to NFL stardom, Watt never had time to walk a mile in his father's shoes.

Until now. During the offseason, Watt returned home and measured himself up against the challenges and rigors his father faces every day.

"I pride myself on being a great athlete, but these drills kind of put me under the table real quick," says Watt in the videos.

We often look up to firefighters as heroes, but it's easy to cast them to the side in favor of idolizing our sports stars. As Watt's day in the firefighter uniform shows, they deserve all the recognition they can get.

As for Watt? Maybe a firefighting career awaits him after football. For now, though, he'd better pull on that Texans uniform and start prepping for Week 1.
