Emmanuel Sanders, Trevor Siemian

With the 2017 offseason underway, the Broncos' quarterback situation is in flux. After Denver won Super Bowl 50, the team lost Peyton Manning to retirement and Brock Osweiler to free agency. Then Trevor Siemian, a 2015 seventh-round pick, started 14 games, and Paxton Lynch, a 2016 first-round pick, started two. The Broncos went 9-7, missing the postseason for the first time since 2010.

On top of that, Gary Kubiak retired at the end of the season and new head coach Vance Joseph says the QB spot is an open competition in 2017 between Siemian and Lynch (assuming the Broncos don't trade for an established quarterback like Tony Romo).

Speaking with ThePostGame during Super Bowl LI week in Houston, Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders gave a ringing endorsement of Siemian. Sanders had 79 receptions for 1,032 yards and five touchdowns in his first season with Siemian. Both Sanders and Demaryius Thomas were 2016 Pro Bowlers, and Siemian was invited, but he declined after having surgery on his left shoulder.

ThePostGame: I went to Northwestern. Trevor Siemian, we were all so excited for him. How confident were you at the beginning of the season?
EMMANUEL SANDERS: I mean, Trevor had a good year. You talk about a guy, first-year player, had two receivers with over 1,000 yards. He got a Pro Bowl nod, but he was hurt. So, they're not really talking about him and I hear people saying that our quarterback play was horrible. This guy's a first year player. To go out and do what he did, obviously we didn't make the playoffs, but every year, you get better and you grow and you understand what it takes to be a pro. I think that eventually, he's gonna get there and lead us to greatness, or so I hope.

TPG: The people in Evanston would be very happy with that answer. You and Demaryius, did you not intimidate him at the beginning of the year?
SANDERS: Nah, Trevor don't get intimidated by nothing. He has like one of the most chilliest personalities. Have you ever seen him?

TPG: I've seen him.
SANDERS: I call him cool, calm and collected.

TPG: I've tried to ask him questions, he doesn't break.
SANDERS: Nah, he's gonna give you boom, boom, boom. All right, next question.

Sanders talked with ThePostGame at the adidas Football VIP Athlete Lounge in Houston on the Friday before the Super Bowl. Adidas showed its own athletes the new UltraBOOST cleat at the event.
