Maverick Schutte has carried a heavy burden for a 6-year-old. In his young life, he's already gone through 30 surgeries to treat a heart condition.
One thing that's kept his spirits high: Schutte loves David Ortiz. That's a strong bond, considering that Schutte lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Nevertheless, Ortiz managed to give Schutte the experience of a lifetime: A trip to Fenway to meet Big Papi himself. And Schutte came away with a great souvenir, too, receiving a foul ball hit during the game.
Ortiz has corresponded with Schutte in the past, most notably when he promised to hit a home run for him in a game last month:

Incredibly, Ortiz followed through:

And Schutte made sure to thank him in a video posted to Facebook:
And this is Maverick video back us @davidortiz after home run 2nite. The man touches lives daily and brings smiles. pic.twitter.com/SPUhx7Hmdq

Of course, we also have to credit former Red Sock Kevin Millar for helping set up this great interaction between two inspiring people.
