This week's exercise -- lunge with knee raise -- is targeted to challenge your balance while toning your core. How? When you offset your balance, your core muscles fire up to help you stabilize, says Freytag. So while you already know that lunges are an all-star move for toning your butt and legs, this intense variation gives you a core workout as well.
