Shane Battier

Shane Battier was born September 9, 1978.

Battier was Most Outstanding Player of the 2001 Final Four as he helped Duke win the NCAA title. In the national semifinal game against Maryland, Battier led the Blue Devils with 25 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals. He followed up with 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in the 82-72 win against Arizona in the championship game.

The Grizzlies drafted him sixth overall in 2001. In 2003-04, along with Pau Gasol and coach Hubie Brown, Battier helped the franchise reach the playoffs for the first time.

Battier also played nearly five seasons for the Rockets, and ended his career with three years in Miami. His three-point shooting in Game 7 of the 2013 NBA Finals helped the Heat hold off San Antonio for the title.
