June 15, 2001: The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Philadelphia 76ers, 108-96, to clinch the 2001 NBA championship and finish the playoffs with a 15-1 record.

Shaquille O'Neal drops 29 points and 13 rebounds en route to the win and the Finals MVP award. Allen Iverson had 37 points for the 76ers.

It was the second of three straight championships for O'Neal, Kobe Bryant and coach Phil Jackson.

In the Western Conference playoffs, the Lakers reeled off sweeps against Portland, Sacramento and San Antonio,

Their lone loss came in Game 1 of the Finals. Iverson stunned the Lakers at Staples Center by erupting for 48 points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals to give the 76ers a 107-101 win.
