Bruce Bowen was born on June 14, 1971.

Bowen played basketball in France between 1993 and 1997 before making his NBA debut with the Miami Heat.

During his 13 NBA seasons, Bowen played for the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs.

He was elected to the NBA All-Defensive first team five times and the second team three times. As a pivotal member of the Spurs, Bowen won the NBA championships in 2003, 2005 and 2007.

Bowen is considered one of the best "lockdown" defenders in NBA history. The Spurs retired Bowen's No. 12 jersey in 2012.
