May 22, 1988: Larry Bird and Dominique Wilkins have one of the NBA's greatest playoff duels as the Celtics beat Atlanta 118-116 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Wilkins finishes with 47 points, five rebounds and three assists. Bird scores 20 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter.

The Celtics took their largest lead of the game at 112-105 when Bird hit a three-pointer, but the Hawks made a final run. Wilkins made a foul shot with one second left to cut Boston's lead to 118-116. He intentionally missed the next free throw (his only miss of the game from the foul line) to give the Hawks a chance at a quick put-back to tie.

Both stars had a strong supporting performances. Kevin McHale scored 33 points, shot 13 for 13 from the foul line and grabbed 13 rebounds. Randy Wittman had 22 points for the Hawks on 11-of-13 shooting.
