May 14, 1981: Larry Bird scores 27 points to help the Celtics win their 14th NBA championship by defeating the Rockets 102-91 in Game 6 of the Finals, but Cedric Maxwell takes series MVP honors.

Maxwell has 19 points in the clincher in Houston after going for 28 points and 15 rebounds in Game 5.

The Celtics feature four future Hall of Famers with Bird, Robert Parish, Kevin McHale and Nate Archibald. The Rockets, led by Moses Malone, were just 40-42 in the regular season but upset the defending champion Lakers in the opening round of the playoffs.
