April 21, 2001: The Atlanta Falcons select Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick with the first overall pick in the NFL draft.

The Falcons, who originally held the fifth overall pick, had to trade up to get Vick, giving away their first-and-third-round choice to the San Diego Chargers, plus a second-rounder the next year and kick returner Tim Dwight, to move up to No. 1.

So how did the Chargers make out in 2001? Safe to say they did just fine, taking LaDainian Tomlinson and Drew Brees with their two first-round picks.
