Mark Charles Teixeira was born April 11, 1980.

Teixeira has played first base for the New York Yankees the past six seasons. Entering this season, he has 343 home runs in his 13-year career with the Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Angels and Yankees.

Teixeira, a switch-hitter, became one of the top home runs hitters in the league in 2004, bursting out for 38 in his second season. That year started a streak of eight consecutive seasons with at least 30 home runs.

Teixeira won the 2009 World Series with the Yankees.
