March 6, 2000: Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O"Neal went off for a career-high 61 points in a 123-103 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. He added 23 rebounds.

Coincidentally, the feat came on his 28th birthday. He hit 24 of 35 shots and sank 13 free throws to give the Lakers their 16th straight win. Here's Shaq talking about his big performance.

He finished the 1999-2000 season averaging 28.7 points per game, winning his first and only MVP award.
