March 5, 1996: Dallas Mavericks guard George McCloud attempts, at the time, the most three-pointers in a game. He shot 20 three-pointers in a game against the New Jersey Nets, making seven of them.

He not only set the record for most field goals attempt in a game, but he finished the season with a record 678 three-point attempts. He even got to participate in the Three-Point contest at the All-Star weekend.

McCloud left the Mavericks in 1997 and spent time with the Lakers, Suns and Nuggets before ending his career in 2002.

His record lasted until 2005 when Damon Stoudamire attempted 21 in a game. Last season J.R. Smith launched 22 in a game with the Knicks.
