March 16, 1996: Mike Tyson knocks out Frank Bruno in the third round to win the WBC heavyweight championship.

After serving prison time for a rape conviction, Tyson wins easily in two tune-up fights to set up his title shot against Bruno.

In 1989 Bruno had fought as a challenger against Tyson, who was the undisputed champion at the time. Bruno landed a big punch against Tyson in the first match but was stopped in the fifth round.

Defending his title against Tyson, Bruno was knocked out in the third round.
