Zdeno Chara was born March 18, 1977.
Chara is a Slovakian national team member and currently captains the Boston Bruins. He's been the leader of this team since 2006, when he signed a five-year deal out of free agency.
At 6-9, Chara is the tallest player ever to play in the NHL. He's also the second European-born and trained captain to win a Stanley Cup, when he led the Bruins to the 2011 title.
In 2009, Chara won the Norris Trophy as the league's top defenseman.
