Víctor Valdés i Arribas was born on January 14, 1982, in Spain.

He was a natural born footballer. At the age of 10, he started his career with FC Barcelona's youth team when he joined from Peña Cinco Copas.

Valdés has spent most of his professional career with FC Barcelona in La Liga. He's one of the best goalkeepers in the club's history. appearing in more than 500 official games and having won 21 major titles, notably six La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League championships.

He has won the Zamora Trophy a record five times, which is given to the goalkeeper with the lowest goals-to-games ratio. He's also been La Liga Goalkeeper of the Year twice: 2009–10, 2010–11.

In March of 2014, he tore his ACL, ending his career with Barcelona and ruling him out of the FIFA World Cup. Just a week ago, Manchester United announced they had signed him to an 18-month deal.
