Alysia Montano is an Olympian and a five-time U.S. champion in the 800 meters. In this year's national championships, Montano finished last in her heat Thursday with a time that was 35 seconds slower than her personal best -- and she was thrilled.

Montano is eight months pregnant.

She ran the race to make a point.

"There is a lot of stigma and really, the word is ignorance, behind pregnant women and exercising," Montano told KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. "And the truth is, it's good for the mom and the baby."

Montano, 28, said she and her husband decided to go for a baby this year, so that she will have to time prepare for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
