What a difference a year makes.
Last year at this time, J.J. Watt's Houston Texans were preparing for a playoff run while the hulking defensive end was having the best season of any defensive player in the league.
This year, Watt's team has lost 13 straight games, and he is facing the possibility of an off-season nose job.
The 24-year-old told the Associated Press that at the urging of his mother, he is strongly considering having surgery on his nose, which he injured in Week 4. A gash on the bridge of Watt's nose required four stitches at the time and left an ugly mark that is still visible. It sometimes breaks open during games and Watt has had to have it repaired each Sunday.
Watt's mom wants him to consider getting a nose job to fix the injury once and for all.
"She hates it," Watt said.
Watt said he's going to give the injury some time to heal over the offseason. If it doesn't get better, he'll look into surgery.
Despite the injury, Watt is having another spectacular season. He leads the Texans with 71 tackles, 9 1/2 sacks and 17 tackles for losses.
