This has been a memorable week for Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce, to say the least.

Not only did Boston clinch a playoff berth, Pierce's wife, Julie, gave birth to the couple's first son. And the little guy's name is incredible: Prince Paul Pierce.

The 15-year veteran missed Boston's game Monday because of "personal reasons." He revealed exactly what those were two days later.

"At 8:21 p.m. [Tuesday], Prince Paul Pierce was born," Pierce told broadcasters at Boston's WEEI radio station. "In the next 18 years, Celtics fans, look out."

In his first game since Prince's arrival, the elder Pierce scored 17 points Wednesday in a 98-93 win over the Pistons that clinched the playoffs.

Fantastic choice of names by Pierce and his wife. They definitely get some major alliteration points.

Also, a professional athlete choosing this first name for his son (Prince Fielder) has a pretty good track record.

And of course, there is Giants defensive back Prince Amukamara.
