Shawna Arnold had gone into labor, and her boyfriend was driving them as fast as he could toward Concord Hospital in New Hampshire, but not fast enough.
Shawna's water broke in the car, so he pulled into the parking lot at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and ran to the ticket office looking for help. Fortunately for them, there was a motorcycle event at the speedway, which meant that an ambulance and EMT crew were on hand.
The EMTs took over the delivery process, which Shawna and her boyfriend had started in their car. Then the ambulance took little five-pound Katie to the hospital.
Katie is likely to be a big NASCAR fan, not just because of all the racing around that surrounded her birth. The Speedway gave her the gift of two free tickets to its NASCAR race every year for life.
