To give Jurgen Klinsmann the benefit of the doubt, perhaps the coach is drawing attention to himself to keep the media heat off his U.S. players. In advance of the World Cup, Klinsmann has stirred the pot by saying the U.S. cannot win the tournament and cutting Landon Donovan.
Although players must react to media inquiries about those controversial topics, they are less likely to step into any trouble spots themselves. Or maybe not. Just a thought. Anyway, with more than a week to absorb Klinsmann's decision to drop Donovan, here is U.S. captain Clint Dempsey's reaction.
