It has been 10 years since Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward capped their breathtaking trilogy. They met three times in a span of 13 months, and they were instant classics.

Ward won the initial meeting on May 18, 2002, which was honored as Fight of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America. Gatti took the next two on Nov. 23, 2002 and June 7, 2003. Gatti was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2012, but it was a posthumous honor. He was found dead in his condo, and his wife was at first charged with murder before the case was ruled a suicide.

HBO is taking a look back the Ward-Gatti phenomenon with its Legendary Nights documentary series. The premiere is Saturday at midnight ET/PT on HBO, after the Mike Alvarado-Ruslan Provodnikov bout, which begins at 9:45 p.m.
