Jaromir Jagr showed his experience by teeing up a perfect quote for the media in advance of the Stanley Cup Final.

"Are you guys still surprised I'm alive?" he cracked.

Well, consider that it has been 21 years since Jagr has appeared in the Stanley Cup Final. Back then, the league had just 22 teams.

Now skating with the Boston Bruins, Jagr still plugging away at age 41 after breaking into the league as an 18-year-old in Pittsburgh.

Is this series against the Blackhawks going to be his last hurrah? Perhaps. But don't bet on it.

2013

Jagr signs with the Stars before the season but gets dealt to the Bruins before the trade deadline. He is back in the Stanley Cup Final after 21 years, a record for longest gap between appearances.

 

2012

After three seasons in the Russian League, Jagr returns to the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers.

 

2011

In addition to playing his third and final season in Russia, Jagr helps the Czech Republic win bronze at the world championships.

 

2010

Jagr helps the Czech Republic reach the quarterfinals at the Vancouver Olympics before losing to Finland.

 

2009

In his first season with Avangard Omsk in Russia, Jagr is named team captain.

 

2008

In his final season with New York, Jagr leads the Rangers with 25 goals and 71 points, but the team loses in the second round of the playoffs again.

 

2007

Jagr helps the Rangers win their first playoff series since 1997, sweeping the Thrashers in the opening round.

 

2006

In his first full season with the Rangers, Jagr posts 123 points. It is the fifth and final time he cracks the 100-point mark in a season.
