For a young fan at a minor league hockey game, just getting a fist pound from longtime NHL winger Jordin Tootoo was probably a dream come true.
But Tootoo had other thoughts.
As the 31-year-old walked off the ice after pregame warmups in Grand Rapids, where he has spent much of the season after getting demoted by the Detroit Red Wings, he gave one boy his stick as a souvenir.
"It’s all yours," Tootoo says to little Camden Smith.
Camden is ecstatic, and his adorable reaction has propelled this clip to nearly 200,000 YouTube views in less than 24 hours.
As Peter Wallner of the MLive.com notes, Tootoo should be commended for maintaining a positive attitude despite being sent down this year. Tootoo had spent much of his 12-year career in the NHL but didn't make the Red Wings' playoff roster this spring.
