On Nov. 25, 1981, Rollie Fingers of the Brewers became the first relief pitcher to win the A.L.'s MVP and Cy Young awards in the same year. Fingers had 28 saves, was 6-3 with a 1.03 ERA in 78 innings with 61 strikeouts and 13 walks.
