It's a busy week for Richard Sherman. He's getting blitzed with media interviews while trying to prep for the New England Patriots ahead of this weekend's Super Bowl.
And he could be days away from becoming a father.
Sherman's girlfriend, Ashley Moss, is due to give birth to her son within the next week, although a doctor said on Wednesday that the baby wouldn't be coming any earlier than a few days away.
That offers some relief, but Sherman is far from out of the woods. Super Bowl XLIX is also a few days out, meaning two of the biggest moments of his life may overlap.
It's a scenario Sherman won't consider at the moment.
"We'll cross that bridge when we get there," Sherman said, according to ESPN. "We're not thinking about the possibility."
Moss has traveled to Arizona with Sherman, and if she goes into labor, that's where she will have the baby. Whether Sherman will be there might depend on the timing of events. And even if the baby comes before the Super Bowl, how much will the Seahawks cornerback allow himself to be distracted from his job?
Sherman's getting hit with big parenting decisions right out of the gate. But rather than be flustered, he's using the impending birth as motivation.
"As a parent, you want to set a great example for them, so I guess, to a degree, a lot of things are riding on [his Super Bowl performance]."
Sherman said he and Moss already have a name picked out, but they're "keeping it a secret from everybody."
