In a conference rich with historic stadiums and arenas, Northwestern, the only private school in the Big Ten, lacks the facilities of its counterparts. One particular knack on Northwestern is its 8,117-person basketball venue, Welsh-Ryan Arena. Students sit in wooden benches inches from the baselines and rafters obstruct the view of some upper seating.

The arena has also been criticized for having scoreboards with no video capability. Replays and kiss cams are part of the great unknown in Evanston, Ill.

That will all change in the coming year when Welsh-Ryan Arena adds LED video boards to its amenities. The Wildcats' football program will see a similar upgrade at Ryan Field.

However, some are choked up by the retiring of the old Evanston video boards. One of those individuals, Willie the Wildcat, showed his emotions to the tune of Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You."
