With all the college conference realignment, it can be difficult to keep tracks of where schools are aligned. When "Jeopardy" asked a question about how many schools were in the Big Ten, none of the contestants was able to get the correct answer, which is 14.
Part of the clue cited the two recent additions to the Big Ten, Maryland and Rutgers. The conference had 11 teams after Penn State joined 1990. Nebraska became the 12th team in 2011.
Other collegiate conferences have deceptive names because of realignment.
The Big 12, based in the southern part of the United States, has 10 members. The Pac-12 was renamed from the Pac-10 conference when Colorado and Utah joined in 2011.
